FOUR talented young ballet dance students from the Illawarra will soon make the trip to Melbourne as part of a prestigious interstate dance program.

Last June, the students auditioned for the Interstate Training Program with the Australian Ballet and were accepted into the program, which kicked off in January.

The program is designed for gifted interstate students who can not live in Melbourne.

The four have been participating in classes with the Australian Ballet School in Sydney and will now travel to Melbourne to take part in their intensive training sessions.

“It’s great because they get to be in classes with other kids aspiring to be dancers and work with different teachers,” i-Dance instructor Rachael Barker said.

Logan said he loved all aspects of ballet but particularly enjoyed performing in front of an audience.

So, how does he respond when his mates ask him why he doesn’t want to play football or cricket instead?

“I just say that it’s lots of fun,” he said.
