Energy Minister Joe Tripodi has congratulated two of Integral Energys Illawarra/South Coast apprentices who have been recognised in the Illawarra Apprentice of the Year Awards.
Brad Spinks, a lineworker, and Chris Srbinovski, a substation technician, were both category winners in their respective fields.
Both were finalists in the Illawarra Apprentice of the Year Awards.
Brad, 21, started work with Integral Energy in February 2002. He studied at Mt Druitt TAFE and completed his apprenticeship five months early in September 2005. He lives in Nowra and works at Integrals Nowra Depot.
Chris, 22, began work with Integral in January 2002. He studied at Mt Druitt TAFE and now lives in Wollongong and works at Integrals Spring Hill Depot as a substation technician.
Mr Tripodi said the success of the two young men highlighted the training for young people provided by Integral Energy.
In 2006, Integrals intake of apprentices is at a record high of 43 and this will be increased to 45 in 2007.
Integral currently has 148 apprentices in total the highest number for many years.
Member for Kiama Matt Brown said Integral Energy had nominated Brad and Chris because of their extraordinarily high achievements in each of their trade categories.
Both young men have worked extremely hard and had been high achievers in their short careers.
I am delighted they have been acknowledged for their drive and commitment, he said.
