WPR Racing is in for a busy weekend as round 7 of the V8 Ute series rolls into the Gold Coast for the Lexmark Indy 300.
Three action-packed races will make up the Indy program and with 4 Utes in the WPR Racing paddock they have a lot on the line.
Team IMBs Damien White says Indy is by far my favourite track in the series. Since the championship win is now out of reach, Ill be looking to haul in some points so I can take a shot at claiming a top 3 finish for the year. Everything will be on the line at Indy. The memory of last years accident is behind me and I cant wait to jump into my IMB Ford and go out and put on a good show for the team and all the supporters. The Ute is quick and Im feeling good and I will definitely be pushing hard.
After temporarily jumping out of his ford for the round to make way for Dean Perkins, Ashley is hoping to continue his recent form, and knows that a solid finish will see him stay in contention for Rookie of the Year honors.
Ashley says It is going to be an interesting round; Ill be jumping out of the Ford and into a Holden for the first time this year. We did some testing in the Holden and it went really well and I felt comfortable behind the wheel, as a rookie to the Indy circuit Im excited and a bit apprehensive about the unforgiving concrete barriers of Indy, but Im cant wait
WPR Racing driver Yanis Derums knows the Indy track well, Yanis says I have raced here before so I know the track; I know what it takes to be at the top of the field. Its nice to have another Holden in the WPR team amongst the Fords! We did a test day last week and the Kanga Loaders Ute felt really good and showed some good speed so Im looking forward to letting lose around the streets of Surfers.
WPR Racing newest team member is NZ V8 Supercar driver Dean "Wildman" Perkins.
Dean says I have always watched the Indy race and have always wanted to race there so to think that it is actually about to happen is awesome. I got along really well with the WPR team earlier in the year at Manfield so Im looking forward to the Indy Challenge. Ill be jumping into the Ute that Ashley has been running all season so I know that its got the pace. Im looking forward to having the GT Radials Ute up the pointy end of the field.
The "Iceman", The Dragon, the Wildman and Caviar, sounds like a winning combination for WPR.
You can catch all the WPR Racing Indy action, Thursday Practice, Qualifying and Race 1, Friday Race 2 and Saturday Race 3.
