Brett's family made the trip from Newcastle to support this occasion held in his honour.

The Brett Cashman Memorial Fundraiser in honour of the former Windang Bowls Club employee saw family and friends gather to raise money for CanTeen. Sadly it was cancer that tragically cut short Brett's life at the age of 40.

Brett became a great contributor in raising money for children's cancer causes and to assist young people living with cancer during his own illness so it seemed appropriate that more than $38 000 was raised in his honour through this fundraiser.

While a few tears were shed on the night no one lost sight of the great man Brett was and the special reason everyone was gathered. With singing, dancing, raffles and enjoyment all around it was an evening Brett would surely have been proud of.

Many local businesses and identities contributed to the cause including the Lake Times with a donation of our own.

General Manager of City Diggers in Wollongong Phil Ryan, Joanne Thiele of Windang Bowls Club and former Windang Bowls CEO John Cosgrove organised the fundraiser.

Mr Ryan sends a warm thank you Windang Bowls Club for holding the event and Shellharbour Workers Club for their generous donation.
