Staff members Joan Cheetham, Fay Lord and Annette Cocksedge received long service awards

WITH one of the biggest reform and development programs ahead and $50 million worth of planned developments in the Illawarra, Goulburn and Bundanoon areas, Warrigal Care had good reason to celebrate at its Annual Dinner last week.

A 40-year history has seen significant achievement for the organisation and it has taken on challenges head-on to reach the level of success the dinner highlighted.

NSW Senator Concietta Fierravanti-Wells sang praise for the organisations objective in promoting positive ageing.

This is a beautiful and compassionate organisation, she said.

She payed tribute to staff and the volunteers both young and old.

State member for the Illawarra, Jennie George was also present, along with Wollongong Lord Mayor, Alex darling, CEO of Illawarra Business Chamber, Mark Grimson, Goulburn Mulwaree Councillor, Max Hadlow and Warrigal Cares CEO, Ian Wilson.

Long service awards went to 26 employees on the night, presented by Chairman, Alan hardy.

He said the organisation attracted the most dedicated workers.

This year saw the introduction of the Chairmans Award that recognised the staff and volunteers excellent service.

They have demonstrated the key values of the organisation, these being respect, compassion, integrity and innovation, Mr Hardy said.

The 150 guests were entertained by Mark Grimsons inimitable sense of humour on the night.

Mr hardy described the work of volunteers as labour of love.

Their commitment and considerable sacrifice never ceases to amaze me, he said.

Warrigal Cares Annual Report was released on the night.

The 44 page publication sums up the organisations achievements over the 2005-2006 reporting period.
