Warilla pressing for state title

WARILLA HIGH School's open boys soccer team is preparing for a date with destiny when they face Penrith outfit Kingswood High in the final eight of the state knockout.
The Warilla side, coached by Robert Petreski, are into the final eight in NSW after 360 teams competed in round one.
Warilla sealed their quarter-final berth with a 1-nil win over North Sydney Boys High at home recently.
Daniel Ferraro broke the nil-all halftime deadlock with a piercing shot across the keeper. Other players to star in the win were Matt Hoppo, Jason Jovanovski, Peta Brankovic and Jamie Necovski.
Warilla qualified for the main draw after a 2-1 win over bitter rivals Oak Flats at Barrack Oval.
Extra time was required to split the teams after scores were tied 1-all at the end of regulation, with Chad Keating the hero for Warilla after Goran Nikolovski's first half goal.
Warilla faced another local rival in round one when they hosted Albion Park and scored a thrilling 4-3 win.
Keating, Peter Henderson Shannon Boesmi and Ben Stratton scored for Warilla to win after trailing three times during the match.
Warilla then fired a warning shot with a 10-nil drubbing of Kanahooka.
In round three Warilla scored a decisive 4-nil away win over Shoalhaven.
In round four Warilla battled Bega and produced the goods with a 2-nil victory.
