The Leisure Coast Soccer Association season came to a end recently with the oldest and longest serving club Warilla Hotel Soccer Club winning the minor and major premiership.

Most of their players average age is in the mid 40s, defeating teams half of their ages in their early 20s.

The recently played Grand Final against worthy opposition in Cabbage Tree saw two very good teams who were most consistant all year go goal for goal, with Warilla prevailing winners 3-2 at the final whistle.

Goals scored by Neil Farmilo, Joel Kime and Gerry Montes who scored a screamer, just what the crowd come to see from 18 yards out with a volley after some good lead up and vision from Fred Borazza who in turn ultimately cleaned up the three main awards at the presentation awards later that evening.

A great job done by coaches Mark Payer and Scott Fowler.

President and life member Kevin Docherty would like to take this opportunity to thank all who make this club the success that it is, Fulvia Hickman, Howie M’garry, Chris Buchannon, also major sponsor Warilla Hotel and everybody who sponsored Grandfinal day and mad Monday, and not to forget our loyal supporters and all players.

Warilla Hotel Soccer Club has always set the standard and bench mark in the competition, winning seven grand finals since 1997 and being runner up three times with the majority of the same players, with an addition of three players in their 20s.
