AFTER a memorable Surf Life Saving summer that saw her win one gold? and two silver medals at the Australian Championships, Kiamas Jane Ware is set to return to Warilla-Barrack Point Surf Lifesaving Club.
Forced to leave the club and commute to Cronulla last season, due to no one in her age group, Ware and her family are excited by the return.
The 15 year old recently set about proving her talents on flat water at the NSW CHS Canoeing Championships, in Grafton last month, in the open division.
Spectators were most impressed when Jane powered home in the K1 500m race, winning by over a minute.
Jane went onto to record victories in the K1 and K2 500m and the K2 500m was most pleasing to Jane and her partner Elissa Helmer of Oak Flats, due to the two months training they had put in together prior to the championships.
Jane is currently heading into a tough training program in the lead up to the Junior World Kayaking Championships where she hopes to make the Australian team to contest the sprint events (K 500m).
Jane started kayaking after advice from Marty Smith of the Warilla club said it would improve her ski leg in surf lifesaving and hasnt looked back since with outstanding results.
Ware doesnt have to look too far for inspiration as club mate David Smith, Martys son,? is a member of the Australian national Kayaking team and recently toured Europe with the Open Men.
I admire the way Dave is committed to his training and is so focused.
