NSW Waratah players Beau Robinson and Lachlan Turner were special guests at last weekend’s Touchdown Chopper Challenge at Albion Park’s Croome Sports complex.

Fresh from their nail biting victory over the South African Cheetahs in the previous evening’s Super 14 clash, both Turner and Robinson turned up to watch over 60 teams participate in the pre -season tournament.

Signalling the start of the Illawarra junior rugby season the Touchdown tournament featured teams from Sydney, Canberra and Illawarra testing their skills in age groups from under eights all the way up to under 18’s.

As well as the rugby, one lucky rugby player was plucked randomly to fly in a helicopter from Albion Park to Sydney to welcome the players on board and host the players on behalf of Illawarra Rugby on their way down to the Illawarra.

Another player was then selected to accompany the players back to Sydney.

“The coastline from Sydney to Albion Park is spectacular so the HSBC Waratahs and Illawarra Junior players were lucky enough to have a very memorable experience” said Mr. Kiteley, owner of Touchdown Helicopters.

Labelling the day a huge success, Illawarra Junior President Gary Pinch said it was great to have the Waratah players come down and take part in the tournament.
