Top 10 for Oak Flats

THREE swimmers from Oak Flats Swimming Club returned from the NSW State Age Short Course Championships at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre held over the weekend of September 15-17 having finished in the Top Ten in the state in various events.
13 year old Phoebe Roman finished 6th in the 100 metre backstroke with a time of 1.07.15 and 8th in the 100 metre freestyle with a time of 59.97, making her the first female swimmer in the history of Oak Flats Swimming Club to swim 100 metres freestyle in under 1 minute.
12 year Zoe Elkerton put on a sterling performance in the 100 metre freestyle, 200 metre freestyle, 50 metre freestyle, 200 metre backstroke and 200 metre medley, with her best result coming in a 4th place in the 200 metre freestyle with a time of 2.13.92.
In the 12 year old boys competition, Tyler James competed in the 100 metre backstroke, 200 metre back stroke and 200 metre freestyle, finishing 7th in the 200 metre backstroke event with a time of 2.30.13 and a 9th position finish in the 200 metre freestyle with a time of 2.12.48.
Phoebe, Zoe and Tyler were all trained under the watchful eye of head coach Ted MacKay assisted by his wife Helen and junior coach Brad Thomas.
Oak flats Swimming club has been operating for 38 years and trains daily in the mornings and afternoons with Pointscore on Friday nights during the summer months.
