LIBERAL candidate Stuart Wright lives locally in Albion Park. He is married with five of his own children and two stepchildren as well as three grandchildren.

The 58 year old is currently General Manager of an engineering consultancy firm. His background includes public and private sector roles including a stint in the Navy.

He said he is running for the seat of Shellharbour as he is settled in his own life and feels he can give his full attention to politics, a subject that has interested him for the past 25 years.

He said he views himself as a chance of winning the seat and said many people in the area have been disappointed over the past 12 years and are looking for a change.

His top priorities include unemployment, transport, health, education and law and order.

"The primary thrust I've got is to represent a fair and equitable base, if people have an issue they can come to me," he said.

He said he plans to work with individual stakeholders and use his links with the Illawarra Business Chamber to create employment in the area.

"I'd like to see more mature workers retained in their positions."

He said infrastructure for roads and rail needs to be addressed, in particular the rail timetable and increasing the number of express trains.

Stuart's first port of call should he be elected will be to gather the various stakeholders in employment, transport and health (mental health and general hospital) and try to address these issues.

On current local issues Stuart says he would like to see the lake entrance works continued as originally planned, more money poured into the Shellharbour hospital to address things such as the birthing unit and the Pork Kembla expansion continued as planned.

"The expansion of Port Kembla will go ahead because it has already been started."

He said infrastructure needs to be addressed to ensure our roads or rail system can handle what is coming into and out of the port.

"Shellharbour is an area where businesses and communities are going to grow."
