The Cancer Council has launched Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea for 2008 with the help of Albion Park’s Historical Aircraft Restoration Society’s ‘Connie’ and her team of flight stewards.

The Biggest Morning Tea, held each May, is the Cancer Council’s most popular annual event. This year the regional fundraising target is $500,000.

Cancer Council Southern Region member Tehla Bower said she was amazed at the way the community embraced the event and encouraged everyone to get involved.

“It is a fun and easy way to make a real difference in your community,” Ms Bower said. “Simply organise a date and time, invite your guests and ask them to make a donation for their morning tea.”

Shellharbour City mayor David Hamilton announced the council would host a Mayoral Morning Tea and encouraged other councils to do the same.

“I challenge the mayors in the southern NSW region to participate in this worthy cause,” he said.

Ms Bower said every donation, regardless of size, was important in the fight against cancer.
