Section: Sport

SATURDAY saw the Shellharbour Swans enter the Wollongong District AFL semi-finals with all four sides vying for premiership.

Two teams " the under 9s and under 10s " scored tough wins.

The under 9s showed they are the team to beat with a close win against the Tigers 2-5-17 to 2-3-15.

Best on ground were William Gamble, Tory Taataa, and Kaylem Parramore.

The under 10s also had a low-scoring game, defeating the Hawks 5-4-34 to 4-4-28. Best on the day were Blake Arnold and Brody Levingston.

Shellharbour's first defeat came in the under 11s, with the Swans going down 13-11-89 to 1-1-7.

Competition was tough early on, with the Hawks making the most of their forward thrusts and possession.

As the game progressed the Swans couldn't find an answer, but they did their best.

The Bowral team were simply too good and too tall, although Shellharbour pieced together passages of team work.

IMB man of the match Nathan Attard-Collins, Rhys O'Brien and Josh Pusser all tried hard fore the Swans.

To their credit Shellharbour fought hard to the end and were not put off by the tough nature of the game.

Other best players were Stephen Lynch, Luke Woods and Nathan Lomas.

The under 12s also suffered defeat from the same team they have played for the last three games, going down 7-1-43 to 4-2-26.

Best on ground were Mitchell Bates, Chris Haboney and Maryanne Callaghan.

Shellharbour's under 9s and 10s move into next weeks finals' at Reid Park, Dapto for the chance to play in the grand finals.
