CAITLIN Ford has been selected in the NSW P.S.S.A. Soccer squad.
The Lake Illawarra-South Primary School? student will make her second trip to Darwin in August for the national championships, having travelled previously to represent NSW in touch football.
The trials were held in Dubbo where Caitlin was playing for South Coast as 11-year-old Caitlin fondly recalls the announcement of the team.
They read the names of the team out on the microphone and I was shocked when I heard my name, she said.
Mum was there and heard my name read and the first people I told were my Nan and sister Jamie, added Caitlin.
Scoring two goals at the carnival on the right wing, the Illawarra Stingrays U12 captain will now set her sights on a training camp in Hornsby, the week prior to tournament.
The players are better, they are fast and strong. Making new friends is the best part, she said.
The youngster wasnt exactly caught up in World Cup fever, she did however, manage to watch the Australians take on Brazil.
Mainly to see her favourite player Ronaldo come up against her favourite Aussie, Lucas Neil.
The year six student hopes to attend Illawarra Sports High School next year and will be training hard for the selection trials later this year.
