THE lease agreement for Shellharbour Links Gold Course has been signed at last, with Shellharbour Links Director, Mr Brad Cannen personally delivering the signed document to Shellharbour mayor, David Hamilton last Monday.

Mr Cannen met Cr Hamilton to personally re-affirm the parties' relationship.

He presented a signed Lease Agreement, which takes over from the Agreement to Lease as a valid and enforceable legal agreement, according to a council spokesperson.

"The Shellharbour Links operator expressed his surprise at the mis-information circulating in the media regarding the signing of the lease for the golf club and pointed out that an Agreement to Lease had been in place for two years," the spokesperson said.

Cr Hamilton said that a valid and enforceable legal agreement has been in place since the golf course opened in early 2005, protecting both Council and the asset against any potential losses.

"The signing of the lease document is a formality and a natural progression for the facility, which could only take place after formal subdivision of the land on which the golf course sits," said the Mayor.

Cr Hamilton also responded to criticism made by claims made last week by Cr Charlie Mifsud

"I offered to hold another meeting with Cr Mifsud three weeks ago to explain that to him yet again, but he wasn't interested&. he went to the media instead, and got it wrong again."
