Section: News, Community
With the Albion Park Show just around the corner, nominations for Showgirl are starting to role in.
Warilla resident Sherisse Kolehmainen will be one of the young women competing for the title next January.
The 18 year-old, who just finished year 12, wants to become Albion Park Showgirl to help rural communities.
“At first I wasn’t going to enter because I thought it was a beauty contest, she said.
“But then I found out that I would be representing rural communities. I’d like to help make people aware of how rural areas are suffering.”
Although she lives in Warilla, Sherisse has spent part of her life in Albion Park Rail and rural Tasmania.
Sherisse is completing a course at the Illawarra College of Professional Beauty Therapy. She enjoys cheerleading and is part of the Rural Fire Service.
The Albion Park Show Society is seeking more nominees, aged 18-24.
To enter or for more information contact Lexie on 4256 2112. The winner will be announced at 6pm at the Albion Park Show on January 12.
