Eight members of Chinas 4th largest winery visited Shellharbour last week, to hold discussions with local Warilla company, Healthy Earth. During their visit, Shellharbour City Council General Manager, Brian Weir gave them a tour of the Links Golf Club at Shell Cove
A SECOND delegation (in as many weeks) of Chinese businessmen visited the Shellharbour area on January 19, this time as part of a goodwill PR exercise with local Warilla business, Healthy Earth, who late last year hit pay dirt with a contract to supply fertiliser to one of Chinas largest wineries.
Principal of Healthy Earth, Peter Jack said that the delegation would spend a day in Shellharbour, before he took them on a tour of vineyards, wineries and farms in Griffith and Mildura.
This is a goodwill PR visit, not just for our company, but for Australian relations with China in general, Mr Jack said.
We have eight people visiting from our client, which is Chinas fourth largest winery.
Mr Wang, the owner of the winery is also a highly placed federal political figure in China.
He has shown us excellent Chinese hospitality when we have visited and we are trying very hard to show them the same dignified reception and hospitality.
There are some important reciprocal deals happening between Australian farmers and the Chinese government.
People like Mr Wang and his team provide very important feedback to the central Chinese government on their return home.
I am trying very hard to improve the plight of Australian farmers in our nations most disastrous time for farming, with our range of soil nutrients.
Chinese goodwill can have a huge impact on future trade relations between our countries.
While presently Mr Jacks company is supplying fertilisers to Mr Wangs winery, the deal between Healthy Earth and the Chinese could eventually mean the construction of manufacturing facilities in China.
