SHELLHARBOUR surfer Simon Farrer won the Australian Kneeboarding Championship at the final leg of the 2007 circuit at Victoria’s, Phillip Island.
Farrer came runner-up in the main event at Phillip Island behind Wollongong surfer Chayne Simpson, but that was enough to snare the national title due to consistent results at other 2007 events.
The final consisted of three local surfers; Wollongong’s Chayne Simpson and Albert Munoz, Farrer (Shellharbour) and Cronulla’s Matt Gallager.
The final was close with many on the beach unable to pick the winner between Farrer and Simpson. Both surfers had been standouts over the weekend with explosive power surfing in extreme conditions.
Farrer (a four-time world champion and multiple Australian champion) came out of retirement to contest the 2007 season.
