Fun, safe and successful - that’s what Shellharbour and Kiama Tourism hopes your future fishing experiences will be.
The two groups joined forces this week in launching the Southern Illawarra Tourism Fishing guide at Shellharbour’s Boat Harbour last week.
Shellharbour and Kiama Tourism managers, Diane Johnston and Nicole Smithers said they were pleased with the content and quality of the guide which is aimed at visiting and local anglers alike.
“We have worked closely with maritime and fishing organisations, Shellharbour and Kiama game fishing clubs and the Lake Illawarra Authority to determine the content of the brochure,” Diane Johnston said.
“The emphasis has been on safe fishing and promoting the excellent facilities in our area, such as the extension to Kiama’s jetty and the family-friendly facilities found along the coastline and around Lake Illawarra,” Nicole Smithers said.
The guide has a detailed map, information on fishing licenses, locations of boat ramps as well as the location of GPS marks and Fishing Aggregating Devices. Safety information includes the location of Angel Rings.
The guide is supported by the Recreational Fishing Community Grants Programme through the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. It is free and available at Visitor Information Centres and tackle shops.
