SEVENTEEN-year-old Danny Palmer of Barrack Heights has been selected as part of the Australian Schoolboys Rugby Union Team to tour Fiji and New Zealand later this year. The two week schedule, September 25 to October 10, will see the 26 man squad play 5 games against what Danny is sure will be stiff competition. Daniel is no stranger to the fierce trans Tasman rivalry having played against the NZ schoolboys last year as part of the Australia A schoolboy side.

Daniel, a Warilla High year 12 student, has played Prop for Southern Districts Colts this season and will continue to do so next year as part of a NSW Waratahs Academy Program. The program will involve an intense training program of 4 hours each day, 6-8am in the morning then again between 6-8pm in the evening, leaving him just enough time to undertake study and work as part of a physiotherapy cadetship.

At the moment Danny and his NSW based teammates are whipping themselves into shape for their upcoming tour undergoing gruelling training camps at the Australian Institute of Sport.

We are sure to be reading a whole lot more about Danny in the future.
