Port down in thriller

THE ILLAWARRA Football Association's match of the round between Picton and Port Kembla lived up to its billing with a nine-goal feast.

A frenetic opening 30 minutes saw five of the nine goals scored before the Rangers won 6-3.

Port Kembla opened the scoring when Mark Picciolini scored after 10 minutes.

Five minutes later Picton were on level terms when Alan Flack's shot eluded Port 'keeper David Chambers.

Port regained the lead after 20 minutes when Picciolini scored his second.

Port then lost key defender Michael Robinson, through injury, which coupled with the absence of captain and strongman Robbie Cazzolli put a hole in their defensive formation.

Picton snatched the lead for good on the half-hour mark thanks to goals from Shaun Piggott and Rebel Sport man of the match Shane Risby.

Ten minutes into the second half Picton's Colin Luff netted to extend the lead to 4-2.

A 20-minute lull was broken when Port's Keiran Duncan scored to reduce the margin to 4-3.

Late goals from Picton's Shaun Piggott and substitute Trevor Dinham sealed the vital three points for the Rangers.

Bulli added to the weekend goalfest with seven against hapless Kemblawarra while Wollongong United bagged six at Tarrawanna Oval.

At Balls Paddock, Bulli scored in the third minute through Shane McGirr.

Further goals were added before half time by Alan Lo Proto and Matthew Bailey before the rout was completed by Matthew Naylor, Luke Zadkovich, Bailey's second and an own goal.

Despite conceding an early goal to Tim O'Brien, Wollongong United went on a rampage with 5 goals in 35 minutes.

United goal scorers were Steve Markovski and Dane Treneski with two each, along with a rare goal from Yani Sekuloski, while Ali Salim netted the sixth.

Victor Costabile scored a consolation for the Blues to make the final score 6-2 to Tarrawanna.

Dandaloo had to fight extremely hard to get maximum points from Albion Park White Eagles and had to rely on two quality strikes to pinch the game.

Chris Jackson scored early for the Orange before Tony Dulevski equalised for the visitors.

Ilija Prenzoski scored from the restart for Dandlaoo to lead 2-1 before Anthony Guido's late gem sealed a 3-1 victory.

Cringila Lions scored a vital away win when they defeated Warilla Wanderers 2-1.

Goal scorers for Cringila were Daniel Vasilevski and Akwasi Agyei while Josh Marimon had earlier equalised for the Wanderers.

South Coast United recorded their fifth win on the trot when they accounted for Dapto 1-0 at home through a goal to captain/coach Michael Santalab.

Kiama's hopes of survival are intact after a 5-3 win over Cringila Lions on Friday night.
