LAKE Illawarra Police have pledged to crack down on youth gang-related activity in the area following vicious assaults of two teenagers last weekend.
In the early hours of Sunday morning a 17 year old was attacked somewhere in Warilla or Barrack Heights with his injuries requiring facial reconstructive surgery.
Detectives are also investigating another incident in which a 16-year-old Warilla youth was stabbed in the front yard of a home in Davidson St, Warilla.
Investigators reported the 16 year old was chased and attacked by the occupants of a white Commodore sedan bearing P-plates and a rear spoiler.
The 16-year-old was found by the occupants of the Davidson St house. He was flown to St George Hospital suffering cuts and a broken jaw.
Lake Illawarra Local Area Command superintendent Michael Willing said the prevalence of youth gangs, especially the often violent friction between two groups known as the Warilla Boys and CMF respectively, was becoming a real cause for concern.
“We have a number of youth gangs in the command and (there has been) tension between the groups,” he said. “We saw that result in the two vicious woundings on the weekend. They’re using knives and are (also) involved in petty crime.
“This is a disturbing and emerging issue that we’re endeavouring to try and address. We’re going to deal with them because we’ve had a gutful of them. We need to jump on them now. I’ll be putting all the resources I can into stamping them out because we could be dealing with anything (from them) in a few years.” Police are appealing for information on both incidents via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Either way you look at it, all of the kids in these groups are cowardly fools feeling a need to go around in groups and pick apart smaller groups/individuals. Not a single one of them deserves the right to draw breath. Seriously, some of these guys are older than me and from what I've heard are doing things like playing rough with samurai swords and being total wiggas. And also I'm sick of them using the same lame primary school insults. There's only so many times I can hear an insult like 'fat c...t' before I want to gouge out my eardrums with a rusty spork. Why don't these kids get jobs or something. Seriously.
