IN what has been a disappointing season for the Warilla Gorillas, something positive has come out of the club with the inception of the Old Boys Club.
Former players, including David Boyle remain dedicated to ensuring the Gorillas become a premiership threat in the near future with the main aim of encouraging former juniors to return to the club.
There are so many current juniors playing for other clubs who we need back at Warilla, said Boyle.
We are hopeful we can get some of them back through the Old Boys network, he added.
Boyle has also accepted the position of Coaching Director for the Club, terrific news as he brings over 25 years experience as a player and trainer in the NRL, who is impressed by the attitude of the current crop of players, now aiming to finish of season 2006 strongly.
The initial Charter of the Old Boys, apart from catching up with mates, is to stimulate interest in the Club, co-ordinate player retention and attraction, and to foster Junior Development.
Representatives from all eras are welcome to become part of the resurgence of the Gorillas that date back to 1964.
The clubs rich and proud history is set to continue with the 40th year anniversary fast approaching and a celebration planned to recognise the 25th year since winning the highly regarded Country Championship Clayton Cup in 1982.
The meeting will take place at Warilla Hotel on Monday July 10th from 6:30 PM. All interested former players, committee persons and workers are invited to attend.??
Anyone who is unable to attend and would like to be a part of the Old Boys can make contact by emailing David Boyle at david@wbcsportsgym.com or sending their contact details to PO Box 326 WARILLA NSW 2528.
