Dapto resident Lyn Lake will be losing her hair next month to raise money for cancer research.

The great-grandmother has dubbed the endeavour ‘Nanny Loses it for Cancer Research’, and is appealing for more sponsors.

With a daughter-in-law suffering from breast cancer, a cousin and sister-in-law enduring other forms of cancer, and several friends also dealing with the disease, Ms Lake said she wanted to ensure future generations do not have to suffer.

“My family have been hit quite heavily with cancer,” she said.

“My sister-in-law had to endure a 14 hour operation to have her eye and part of her cheek removed, and her face rebuilt as a result of it.

“Losing a little bit of hair is nothing,” she said.

“I want to fund research so that my grandchildren and future generations don’t have to go through this.”

Ms Lake will be having her hair shaved off at the Dandaloo Hotel in Dapto this Saturday, March 1, at 1 pm.

Donations are welcome on the day or call the Cancer Council on 4225 3660 and mention ‘Nanny Loses It’.
