WARILLA Sports are still going strong in the combined South Coast-Illawarra under 16As cricket competition after a 28-run win over Thirroul on Saturday.

The Kookas racked up 143, led by 70 from Illawarra Academy of Sport (IAS) cricketer of the year Nic Maddison before holding Thirroul to 115. Adam Zampa snared 3/16 for the Kookas.

Meanwhile, Balgownie defeated Lake Illawarra by 39 runs and Shellharbour scored a thrilling one-wicket win over Corrimal.

Keira defeated Helensburgh by five wickets and Kiama notched a four-wicket win over The Rail to complete the round.

In the under 16Bs, Wests Blue (4/111 dec.) are well on top against Kiama, who were rolled for 34.

In other games, Albion Park (9/50) scraped past Port Kembla (33) in a low-scoring match, Wests Red (7/133) thumped Warilla Sports (50), Shellharbour City (7/155) scored a five-wicket win over Dapto (4/148) and Oak Flats (6/116) defeated Thirroul (7/110) by four wickets.

In the under 14As, Corrimal (5-122) defeated Warilla Sports (8-58) while Kiama (5-66) scored a five-wicket win over Dapto Blue (62).

A handy double from Justin Rodrigues (31 and 3/7) wasn’t enough for Shellharbour (58), who lost to Albion Park (9/84).

Dapto Gold (1-81) cruised past Wests CC (79) and Balgownie (3-110) defeated Keira (7-103) to complete the round.

In the under 14Bs, R Tritton hit 51 as Albion Park Green (2/90) defeated Jamberoo (87). Elsewhere, Gerringong (6-158) defeated Oak Flats (6-128) and Shellharbour White (8-107) thumped Kiama (42).

Albion Park Gold (6-143) defeated Warilla (102) to complete the round.

In the under 12Bs, Jonathon Yan hit 30 as Oak Flats (2/78) defeated Albion Park Green (7/76).
