Longboarders rule

PORT Kembla's Goats Creek Longboarders held their inaugural Club Championship & Presentation Night last Saturday, February 24 witha good turnout of both competitors and spectators joining in the fun of the day's events and the nighttime's award ceremonies.
Gurnseys went to Ian McKenzie - Club Champion; Brad Hurst - Point Score; Ian McKenzie - Single Fin; John Rutten - Junior Champion; Mick Bevis and Steve Houlihan - Skins; Fuff Pilar - Best Wipeout; Shaun Gribble - Best Nose Ride, Mick Bevis - Best Tube and the Clubman of the Year award went to Jim Mandliadis.
Judges of the day's competition were Paul Brooks, George Gribble, Peter Maywald and Bob Parkes, with photographers David Milne and Mick Rae recording the glrious and not so glorious moments for posterity. Trophies for the award ceremonies were made by Grahame Hynard, Brad Swindles and Steve Rutten.
Club President, John Lowe said the support of sponsors made a huge difference to being able to run a successful club and thanks SIC Surf & Skate, West Wetsuits, Fairways Resort, Pauls Warehouse, Carabines, Skipps, Surf Tech, Ultra Body Gym, Michael's Place TakeAway, The Stack continental Deli, Uncle Franks Dist, Take a Hike Camping Gear, Ed Sinnott and Port Kembla surf club for their on-going support.
