SHELLHARBOUR really is a golfer's paradise.
Shell Cove's own Shellharbour Links has been named among the top 50 golf courses in Australia (under $50 per round) by respected national sports magazine, "Golf Australia".
The June issue of the magazine rated the nation's best golf courses as part of an annual feature.
The panel was particularly impressed with the layout of the Shellharbour Links course, especially the natural attributes of the landscape which create a course that is as picturesque as it is demanding.
Mayor David Hamilton said the rating is great recognition and the community should be extremely proud of this terrific asset.
"Being named amongst the best in Australia has confirmed what we have known for a long time " that Shellharbour Links is an outstanding first class facility that is enjoyed by golfers of all standards," Mr Hamilton said.
Shellharbour Links General Manager, Robby Stephenson, said it is very gratifying to know that all the hard work put in by both Links management and Shellharbour City Council has not gone unnoticed.
"While the latest rating is evidence that the course is heading in the right direction, we are certainly not finished trying to improve the course. Further changes including an extended cart path network and bunker re-shaping will make the Links an even better place to test the golfing skills of all players," said Mr Stephenson.
