Hosted by local Wollongong male voice choir, The Lamplighters, the National Boys Choir of Australia will be performing in concert at Wollongong Town Hall on Sunday June 25 as part of their NSW/Victoria regional centres tour.

This will be the first time that the National Boys Choir of Australia, made famous for its role in the well known QANTAS television commercials, will have performed for a Wollongong audience.

The choir of some 40 boys travels extensively, performing one year overseas and one year in Australia and have a reputation as one of Australias finest treble choirs, having recently performed to a sellout audience with the Melbourne Symphony.

Derek Corrin, Publicity Manager for the Lamplighters said they were thrilled to be able to present the National Boys Choir of Australia in Wollongong.

We were very excited when they (NBCA) approached us to perform with them on their Wollongong concert, said Mr Corrin.

It marks a real high point in the Lamplighters career.

To share the stage with such a prestigious choir as the NBCA is a real honour.

Last Sunday the Lamplighters also became part of a large 16th Player promotion of the Wallabies vs. England Rugby test match at Telstra Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park.

45 Lamplighters sang to an ever-changing audience in three sets over 2 hrs as some 62,500 spectators arrived for the big game.

According to a spokesperson for the Lamplighter, the concert with the National boys Choir of Australia promises to provide an entertaining and varied afternoon choral program with The Lamplighters adding to the enjoyment with their own special brand of Male Voice singing and entertainment.

The concert will conclude with a finale of 90 male voices blending in harmony.

The concert is being held at Wollongong Town Hall on Sunday 25 June at 2pm. Tickets are $20 & $15 concession and $12 for school children. Bookings can be made by calling 4284 8348.
