RUGBY League in summer? Yes was definitely the answer coming out of the Berry Sport and Recreation centre last weekend.

46 junior rugby league players aged from six to 15-years-old joined together to participate in the Australian Rugby League (ARL) Kids to Kangaroos development program.

ARL National Development Officer, Mr John Good said the weekend went extremely well, highlighted by the skills most players dont realise they are gaining and a surprise visit by Group 7 products and St George Illawarra Dragons Players Brett and Josh Morris and Brad Davidson.

The Sunday was games based where we try getting the kids doing activities that they enjoy but they are still learning skills, he said.

Kids from all over the group attended from Warilla to Milton and the highlight was the Dragons boys coming along. Each kid got a photo with the players and they all said they had a great time.

Youngsters who missed the camp this time wont have to wait too long before the Dragons hit the Group 7 region for their annual blitz in February.

Next up is the Dragons Blitz, which starts from February 14 and will run to February 21.

The great thing about having the Morris boys and Brad there on the weekend was that the large number of local kids at the clinic know who they are, added Mr Good.
