Last man standing

WHETHER its an interest in old cars, a love for smashing them up or just good old fashioned therapy for all those built up tensions of life, 47 year old Craig Jones says he reckons there is nothing quite as exciting as a demolition derby and hes got the trophies to prove it.
Craig is the 2006 Champion of the Albion Park Show annual Demolition Derby, an honour he has held twice before last year, and hes after the trophy for a fourth time in 2007.
The secret to his success, Craig says, is a good car and good preparation.
Station wagons are stronger than sedans and the early Holden Kingswoods are one of the strongest around, Craig said.
Then the trick is to try and hit everyone else in the front of their car, without getting hit in the front yourself.
Its very much a last man standing sport Ive been doing it since 1999 and been in somewhere close to 60 derbys I just love it!
You can catch all the action of the 2007 Demolition Derby at the Albion Park Showground at 9pm on Saturday January 13 and then on Sunday, after the carnage, there will be a fabulous display of gleaming utes and cars on show none of which are ever likely to get anywhere near a Demolition Derby track, show organisers say.
