FOLLOWING last weeks report in the Lake Times about residents concerns over the environmental sensitivity of the proposed shared use pathway at Koona Bay, Shellharbour Councils Director of Operations, Mr Arthur Webster says he is keen to allay any confusion residents may have.
There are many issues to be considered in selecting a preferred route for the Koona Bay Shared Pathway because of the environmental sensitivity of the area, Mr Webster said.
Council, like the residents, is keen to ensure the best possible solution is found.
Many technical and environmental studies have been undertaken which form the basis of the Review Of Environmental Factors (REF) report, which is currently on public exhibition.
Council has always encouraged the community to be involved in the selection and we again invite locals to look at the Review Of Environmental Factors (REF) report and make submissions which will form part of the decision making process.
There appears to be some confusion about Council's position; Council has not made any decision on a preferred route and in a bid to allay any confusion, Council will extend the Public Exhibition period for a month until March 16, 2007 to give locals more time to read the report and make comment.
An information kiosk will be set up in Wilson Park on Koona Street on Saturday 3 March between 8:30am and 11:30am
Interested members of the community are invited to visit the site and look at plans, environmental reports and speak with Council's technical officers in an informal environment.
