The incredible talent in local golf has never been as evident as at the Shellharbour Links Golf Club where juniors Daniel Davies and Tom Holz have been burning up local courses.
Twelve year-old Daniel has just been selected in the NSW PSSA team to compete against teams from Victoria and Queensland in November after shining at the NSW titles at Waratah in Newcastle.
Daniel was beaten on a countback for the NSW scratch title after carding 80 off the stick. He was one of eight boys and four girls selected to represent the state and won the honour from a field of 72 players.
He has been playing golf for four years and has a 12 handicap and plays off the men’s tees at the Links course.
Tom Holz’s emergence is just as noteworthy after taking out the gross at the Wollongong Youth Classic.
Tom, 15, has only been playing golf for two years and is a member of the Illawarra Academy of Sport golf program and plays off an impressive handicap of just five.
Shellharbour Links golf professional Vikki Tutt said that Daniel and Tom were just two of the outstanding youngsters at the club and the two show enormous potential.
“These two boys are great young boys and show the dedication and application to the game and are always keen to learn,” Vikki said.
