PAST Soccer greats, friends, family and the local community turned out at Jamberoo Golf Club last Thursday for the third annual Johnny Warren Golf Classic.
The event serves as a major fundraiser for the Johnny Warren Football Foundation, which aims to achieve Johnny Warrens vision of Australia becoming one of the top football nations in the world.
The event raised? $7,500 for the foundation, which according to Johnny Warren Football Foundation Executive Officer Stefan Kamasz will help create pathways for young people to continue to develop and help achieve Johnny Warrens dream.
Johnnys close mate and former Wollongong Wolves Goalkeeping coach Ron Tilsed reflects on the day and the man it honours.
Johnnys dream was the A League, it is his lasting legacy and he would have been over the moon that Australia has made the World Cup, he said.
The Johnny Warren Football Foundation is all about ensuring that the passion Johnny had for the game lives on in all of us he added.

I grew up in Quandialla, a town of 40 people and Johnny visited us, he was really patient with us kids which really helped as we werent too good he said.
The Johnny Warren football Foundation held recently held an elite players camp that included the 13 regions from across NSW and more opportunities are on the way according to Stefan Kamasz.
In the near future it is our aim to involve a Brazilian coach to oversee our talented player camps to implement the style of play, ensuring Johnnys dream is realised, he said.
