SHELLHARBOUR Sharks Men's 1 team are starting to show signs of the form that took them to within a point of the Sydney finals in 2006, beating Gladesville/Five Dock Hawks 121 (3 skins) to 92 (1 skin) on the weekend.
Batting first the Sharks were off to a strong start with Scott Ulcigrai (22) and Craig Wills (12) scoring 38.
The Hawks fought back in the second pair restricting Ryan Smith and Andrew Vickery to 7.
From there the Sharks were in control with Ned Taylor (15) and John Puckeridge (22) scoring 43 and Mark Ulcigrai (15) and Nick Biracoski (18) posting 33.
Smith blasted through the Hawks opening pair taking 3/-11 from the first over.
Big hitting in the Hawks' final pair put a scare into the spectators, but great bowling from Scott Ulcigrai, Ned Taylor and -11 from the last over by Mark Ulcigrai secured the game and the skin.
Best with the ball were Smith (3/-1), Mark Ulcigrai (3/-3) and John Puckeridge (2/9).
Men's 2 continued to improve, moving into the top 5 with a comfortable win over the Hawks 97 (4 skins) to 70 (0 skins).
Led by skipper Tode Biracoski (4/-5) and Matt Crouch (3/4), the Hawks struggled to one of their lowest scores of the season, particularly struggling with the spin trio of Crouch, Graeme Jolliffe and Andrew Vickery.
The Sharks batted solidly, led by Corey Piccirillo (27) and Tode Biracoski (15).
A big win against last placed Girraween next week should set up the Sharks to repeat their semi final position in 2006.
Struggling to get a team on the court with injuries and unavailability, the Sharks Men's 3 went down 141 (4 skins) to 85 (0 Skins).
Batting first only Nathan Tyrrell (17) and Nathan Radford (12) managed to get on top of the bowling, while Kieran Brown (13), Kane Graham (9) and Rob Young (12) also tried hard.
In the field the Sharks fought to the end with Radford (3/12) and Graham (2/14) having the best figures.
The slide of Men's 4 continued with a comprehensive loss to the Hawks 142 (4 skins) to 62 (0 skins).
Batting first the Sharks struggled from the start with Mick Debruyn and Darren Anshaw scoring only 12.
Skins of 16, 15 & 19 followed, with no single sharks player scoring double figures.
Nathan Tyrrell led the bowling figures with 2/4, while skipper Paul Abba had 2/9.
