THE first stage of a community consultation process for the planned ecotourism resort at Killalea has commenced with the launch of a 1800 number for public information.

A spokesperson for Killalea Coastal Investments said face to face meetings with community groups will commence within the next fortnight

According to the spokesperson the consultation program will initially involve meetings between the Killalea Park Trust, the NSW Department of Lands, Killalea Coastal Investments and a range of relevant community groups.

Information will also be posted on the proposal on the internet, including the Plan of Management for the park, the Development Agreement between the Killalea State Park Trust and Killalea Coastal Investments Pty Ltd and information about the proposed manager of the facility, EcoPoint, which currently manages a number of eco-resorts in national parks.

The free call number is 1800 110 055

Members of the public can call during business hours to speak to a consultant about the proposal. If calling out of hours they will be able to leave a message and their call will be returned during business hours.

Stage two of the consultation program will include the publication of the Development Application (DA) by the consent authority for the ecotourism resort and the calling for public comment on the DA.
