With seven rounds to play in what is arguably the most exciting Premier League in many seasons, there is immense interest throughout the competition.
The only one ‘given’ is that of Warilla Wanderers position on the table, who are almost certain to be playing District League Football next season.
Albion Park White Eagles continue to lead the way as they have done from virtually day one and maintained there position at the summit with a two point lead, after a hard fought win over second last placed Picton Rangers 3-2.
The Eagles boast both the best attack and defence in the League and play an attractive brand of football to boot.
Up front they have a formidable partnership in Lando and Chris Smith with Smith proving the perfect foil for his partner. At the back the defence is anchored by skipper, Mitchell Blowes who is the best keeper in the competition.
Dandaloo, who sit in second spot, also had to work hard for their three points in overcoming a desperate Cringila by 2-1.
The Lions went into the game knowing that only a win would do if they wanted to stay in the championship race.
Marcello Guerrero scored the winner midway through the second half when he scored from the penalty spot after Cord Tolson had committed the penal offence.
Port Kembla remained hot on the heels of the top two when Mark Picciolini scored the only goal of the game on 70 minutes against Coniston Lions at Kelly Park.
Port have 41 points the same as Dandaloo. Rob Mahailov being sent off didn’t help Cono’s cause either.
The season’s surprise packet, Fernhill just won’t go away and they had another good win (1-0) to stay four points off the pace and retain a strong interest in the No. 1 prize.
They had a few scary moments during the game with their opponents Dapto missing a number of good chances to take something from the match.
Tarrawanna scored a huge ‘six pointer’ yesterday when they beat Wollongong United 1-0 in a dramatic game at Tarrawanna Oval.
In the remaining game, Bulli got the expected three points when they eased to a comfortable 7-0 win against Warilla Wanderers after leading 4-0 at half time.
Sasho Dimoski, on his return to the first team, grabbed a hat-trick with Rodney Paterson, Tobin Zoomers, David Buchanan and Stephen Hansen joining in on the goal frenzy.
