ALBION Park resident Kerry Augustson is gearing up for the 2006 ITU Canberra LD Triathlon World Championship to be held in Canberra on 19 November 2006.

It is the longest triathlon world championship race anywhere in the world and it is Kerrys first time representing her country as a newly qualified member of Team Australia.

The event has seen a huge entry from around the globe with teams from 48 countries set to compete.

The Triathlon will be staged over a 4km Swim, a 124km Bike leg and a 30km Run in and around Canberra.

With competitors given 13 hours to complete the 158km journey, the winner is expected to go close to a six-hour race time.

In preparation for the World Championship event Kerry has been training for nearly a year to complete this one race.

With an average training regime of 24 hours a week, Kerry does close to 400km on the bike, swims 16kms., and runs 40-50kms.

While pushing herself in all areas Kerry credits her running improvement to the wonderful support from Kembla Joggers.

Despite all her hard work in preparing herself for the ultimate test Kerry feels she is not the only one who has been putting in the hard yards and would like to make a special mention of her greatest supporters, her husband John, Coach Scott and all her friends.

Kerry would also like to thank Dominion Equity for their support.
