Oak Flats Albion Park Gymnastics and Acrobatics Club will have five competitors in two different State Championships next weekend.
The Level 1-3 Acrobatics Gymnastics Championships is being held on Saturday at the Dunc Gray Velodrome at Bankstown and the Levels 7-10 WAG Championships on Sunday at Penrith.
Their Level One trio of Emily Noakes 10, Katie Hayes 10 and Mykenna Collier 6, qualified for their State Championships at a trial held in Bankstown two weeks ago.
In their very first competition, the girls rose to the occasion by placing fifth overall.
Competing in two routines, the girls hope to improve their performance and be amongst the medal winners.
At the other end of the scale, our current highest level WAG girls will compete in the Level 8 Championships.
Lisa Trujillo and Emily Caunt both qualified for the Championships after performing well at a trial held at Penrith a month ago.
Both girls had podium finishes at this competition with Emily placing third on the senior uneven bars and Lisa placing third on the junior floor event.
Both girls had top six overall finishes and hope to achieve similar results on Sunday.
To top off an eventful weekend, our higher level acrobats will be participating at a NSW acrobatic gymnastics clinic on Sunday held at Bankstown with the states best coaches in the lead up to their state trials in coming weeks.
The club would also like to congratulate former club member Bridget Beattie on her sixth overall placing in the International Level 10 National Championships held in Melbourne last weekend.
Bridget, who with her family relocated to Brisbane four years ago to attend the Queensland Academy of Sport and train with elite gymnastics has proven herself to be a future champion.
The club looks forward to watching her progress in the next few years.
