While for most children the end of the summer holidays is a gloomy time, for those starting kindergarten, the first day of school is often awaited with excited anticipation.
“We get stories from parents about kids waking up at the crack of dawn for their first day, and wearing their uniforms during the holidays,” Barrack Heights Public School principal Robert Cusack said.
Thirty-six new Barrack Heights Public School kindergarten students will join thousands of young students starting school today or tomorrow across NSW.
And it is not only the new students who will be on unfamiliar territory – kindergarten teacher Lisa David is also new to Barrack Heights Public School.
“This is my first posting,” she said. “It’s a great school and I’m very excited.”
Mr Cusack advised anxious parents to relax and enjoy the experience with their children.
“It’s one of the great milestones in their lives,” he said.
“It a lot of fun to start a whole new kindy class every year, and welcome new families into the school community.”
