Jo Tynan said it took several weeks for her children to sleep in their own beds again following a recent break-in at their family home.
Unfortunately, they’re again struggling to sleep after their home in Warilla was broken into again, last weekend while Ms Tyanan was having her daughter Tess seen at the Sydney Children’s Hospital.
Ms Tynan, a single mother of four, had her family’s home broken into first on January 16.
The thieves stole Christmas presents including a new Nintendo Wii video game.
Five-year-old Tess is a quadriplegic and her mother saved for six months to buy the Nintendo for her. Her twin brother Jayden is also mildly disabled.
After hearing of the incident, the KidzWish Foundation bought a new Wii and games for the family which also includes nine-year-old Tenayah and Shanae, six.
“They were just lost for words, so overwhelmed,” Ms Tynan said.
However, last Friday evening, thieves broke into the home again, coming through the home’s first bedroom window and taking all of the donated items, plus other games Ms Tynan had bought.
“The look on their faces when it happened- frightened, disbelief… they still get scared at night if they hear a noise,” she said.
“We’ve lived here for two years and never had any problems. Now when anyone walks past, rides past or drives slowly past, that feeling that someone has been in our home…”
Ms Tynan said she returned home from Sydney on Saturday morning to discover the break-in. “It’s so wrong, so heartless. I’m glad they didn’t take Tess’ equipment, her life saving equipment such as her wheelchair.”
