Inspirational Albion Park-Oak Flats Eagles second-rower Steve Butfield about to off load as two Gerringong defenders cling on at Centenary Field on Sunday.
ALBION Park-Oak Flats Eagles continued on their winning way on Sunday when they outclassed second placed Gerringong Lions 44-16 at Centenary Field.
The sides produced an entertaining game as the only first grade game played in the Group over the weekend due to heavy mid-week rain, with the Eagles running in eight tries to three and led 22-12 at halftime.
The Eagles showed some great form and the game featured two outstanding tries midway through the second half that totally shut the gate on any chances of a Lions comeback.
The first came when the Lions dropped a ball 30 metres from the Eagles line and it was toed through by centre Sean Jenkins who kept the ball on his boot until a bad bounce near the line saw him dive and scoop the ball away to winger Benny Brookfield who dived over under the posts.
Less than two minutes later livewire fullback Danny Sartori sliced through from halfway and sped away for the try.
Steve Butfield, Jenkins and Sartori were outstanding for the Park.
