CASSIE and James Garvan along with Bill and Pat Dennis were special lunch guests of Dragons players Mark Gasnier, Adam Gorrell, Jason Ryles and Dean Young courtesy of a prize donated by Michael Dennis, proprietor of The Ocean Beach Hotel Shellharbour.
The prize was donated by The Ocean Beach Hotel to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation then purchased back by at a fundraising event by Michael so his parents, Dragon tragics Bill and Pat, could enjoy lunch with the NRL stars.
Michael extended the invitation to another dragon fanatic, young Cassie Garvan who suffers from diabetes. Cassie was accompanied by her brother, James, both of whom were excited all week at the prospect of meeting the dragons, I was really excited, I couldnt wait said Cassie.
Cassie, a Red V Member couldnt wipe the smile off her face at the real life encounter. On their finals prospects Cassie was adamant that they better win, but I havent told them that yet.
While Cassies favourite player is the up and coming wing maestro Brett Morris, she was delighted to be in the presence of her other footballing heroes as was her brother James who was over the moon after sharing a chat with his favourite Gaz.
Mark Climo an active campaigner for Juvenile Diabetes research was also in attendance, enjoying a meal and laughs with the dragon players.
Mark said its really great when the players and the community get behind juvenile diabetes
Mark is looking forward to the upcoming Juvenile Diabetes Walk for a Cure to be held at Stuart Park Wollongong on Sunday the 22nd of October. It promises to be an afternoon full of fun activities for the kids with jumping castle, face painting and other entertainment. .
