LOCAL and national businesses have eagerly volunteered support for Shellharbour City Councils Dogs Day Out charity walk, taking place on Sunday July 2, according to Cr. Helen Stewart.
In addition the activities already planned, local vet, Aine Seavers and a team of veterinary nurses have volunteered their services to run free vet checks from 9:15am prior to the start of the walk at Skiway Park, said Ms Stewart.
Companies like Nestle Purina and Hills Science Diet have donated products, as well as many local vets and other businesses contributing leads, collars, chewies, toys, shampoo products and many other pet care items, so well have loads of prizes and giveaways on the day.
Dunmore Rural Fire Service will be running the barbeque and there will be prizes awarded in such categories as the biggest and smallest dog, best behaved and so on.
We will also be holding a raffle with all proceeds going to provide support for DCH Animal Adoptions, in keeping with our underlying message of building awareness of the plight of homeless animals and the responsibility? of pet ownership.
Oak Flats Bowling Club have donated a huge teddy bear, standing close to 5 feet tall, which is valued at more than $600, and this will be one of our major raffle prizes
The Dogs Day Out event will be held on Sunday 2nd July, from 10am to 12 noon at Skiway Park, Oak Flats, and will consist of two walking routes - one from Skiway Park to Central Ave and return and the second to Boonerah Point and return.
Dog owners are invited to participate via a gold coin donation.
