Trudy Burke (left) and Shannon Powell recently represented NSW Country U18s in Softball, competing against national and international sides at a softball Australia Friendly in July.

SHANNON Powell of Barrack Heights and Trudy Burke of Albion Park recently represented NSW Country U18s team at the 2006 Softball Australia Friendship Series, which was played at the Blacktown Olympic Softball Park.

While their team finished in sixth place the main emphasis according to coach Grant Pickering was on improving the technique of all players.

The biggest thrill for the talented teens came from the experience gained by playing against teams from all over Australia and visiting international sides from America.

Both Shannon and Trudy are great friends and play against each other in the local Illawarra competition and have previously represented South Coast CHS together.
