Counting Calderwood costs

WEST Dapto residents lost the Fowlers Rd bridge and in its place is a recently announced range of improvements.
Some $70m is to be spent over a number of years to give upgraded flood free access to the long suffering residents.
This is all very good but the timing of these works is dependent on developer contributions coming from stage 1 and 2 of the West Dapto residential release.
I wonder how many residents of Horsley and West Dapto realise that if Calderwood gets the go-ahead, it will automatically slow down the new development in West Dapto, causing consequent delays in the upgrading of roads in the area.
With the imminent release of 6500 lots in stages 1 and 2 of West Dapto, Calderwood is not needed and if it went ahead the negative flow on impacts to West Dapto residents would be totally unacceptable.
Our local Member for Parliament Lylea McMahon has stated that she supports the West Dapto plan as a priority over Calderwood.
I hope that she can persuade the new Minister for Planning Tony Kelly to resist the pressure by the big developer, Delfin Lend Lease who want to jump the queue, totally disregarding the Regional Plan.
