SOUTH COAST JUNIOR CRICKET
ILLAWARRA and South Coast clubs shared the honours in the most recent round of the combined under 16As cricket competition on Saturday.
South Coast’s Kiama scored a memorable four-wicket win over Thirroul, led by a handy double of 32 and 2/10 from Taylor Hudson with the ball.
Shellharbour kept the ball rolling for the southerners with a nine-wicket win over Helensburgh underscored by 66 from Ben Mitchell.
However, Corrimal scored revenge for the Illawarra with an impressive win over Lake Illawarra and Balgownie were too good for The Rail, despite 60 from Liam Mann.
Wests scored a seven-wicket win over Keira to complete the round.
In the under 16Bs, Dapto scored a hard-fought win over Oak Flats in the only Illawarra-South Coast clash of the round.
In the all-Illawarra matches Thirroul defeated Wests Blue, Wests Red were too good for Keira and Balgownie defeated Port Kembla.
Shellharbour defeated Warilla Sports to complete the round.
In the under 14As, Albion Park were the only South Coast side to get the better of their Illawarra rivals, defeating Dapto.
In other games Corrimal defeated Shellharbour City, Balgownie scored a win over Warilla Sports, Wests defeated Kiama and Dapto Gold defeated Keira in an all-Illawarra match.
In South Coast under 14Bs, Albion Park Green defeated Warilla, Albio Park Gold defeated Shellharbour Blue, Oak Flats were too good for Kiama and Gerringong defeated Jamberoo.
In the 12As Kiama defeated Albion Park and Shellharbour Blue defeated The Rail.
In the 12Bs Jamberoo go the best of Shellharbour White, Gerringong defeated Lake Illawarra, Oak Flats defeated Albion Park Gold and Shellharbour Blue were too good for Kiama.
Shellharbour Blue scored a big win over their White counterparts in the 10As, Oak Flats defeated Kiama, Gerringong defeated Warilla and Albion Park beat Shellharbour Silver.
Meanwhile, South Coast Junior Cricket has named its under 13 team for a representative carnival in Orange to be played from January 7-11.
The team is: Alex Bruce, Callum de Bruyn, Hayden Cahill, Mitchell Conley, Reece Conley, Jesse Dee, Thomas Dowd, Thomas Fogarty, Nathan Gallastegui, Jayden Heathcote, Cole Lynch, Zac Young.
Steve Bruce will coach the team while the manager is to be announced.
