Crs Jeff Bailey and Helen Stewart show off the new Shellharbour Charity Race Day Cup

WITH only ten days to go before the Shellharbour City Charity Race Day hits the starting gate on Saturday September 2 at Kembla Grange Racecourse, this years organisers, Crs Jeff Bailey and Helen Stewart are reminding residents to come along and enjoy a free, fun day at the races while also helping the coimmunity.

The Charity Race Day was a great success last year and close to $5000 was raised for Shellharbour Hospital, Cr Bailey said.

It is a great opportunity to bring the community together and raise funds for charity.

Cr Stewart said that everyone who attended last year had a great day out.

This year will again be an exciting day of racing and family fun, packed with horse races, raffles, amusement for children and more, all aimed at raising funds for this years selected charity, the Society of St Vincent de Paul, Central Illawarra Region., she said.

The Shellharbour Charity Race Day is free to all residents of Shellharbour. Residents can get their free entry tickets at various shops and businesses throughout the Shellharbour City area, and for Lake Times readers, tickets are available at the newspapers offices on College Avenue, Blackbutt.

Cr Bailey said that for anyone wanting something a little more exclusive on the day, there is a special Luncheon Package available in the Bert Lillye Lounge which includes course entry, race book, reserve seating in the Bert Lillye Lounge, TAB facilities for those wanting a flutter, hot and cold smorgasbord lunch, dessert, 5 drink tickets plus afternoon tea.

Tickets for the Luncheon Package are only $70 per person can be booked through Tony Villa or Kellie Marsh of St Vincent de Paul Society on 4256 6266 or 0400 418 407.

Cr Stewart says the Charity Race Day is a terrific opportunity for ladies to dress up and wear their favourite hat as well as being a great way to get together with friends, entertain business customers or reward staff and raise funds for St Vincent de Paul to assist in all the great work they do to help people in need in the Region.

Cr Bailey says that there are also still a few of sponsorship opportunities available.

A sponsorship package includes racing naming rights, sashing rights, photos with the winner of the sponsored race and 4 free tickets to the Bert Lillye Lounge luncheon a great way for a business to get some publicity and do some goodwill entertaining.

Anyone interested in taking advantage of these sponsorship opportunities should contact Jeff Bailey on 0431 501 616, Helen Stewart on 0431 501 622 or Sharon Elliott on 0412 390 461.
