No excuse is needed to buy iced finger buns this week with the launch of Bakers Delight’s Pink Bun Campaign, raising money for breast cancer support.

One hundred percent of the proceeds of specially prepared pink buns go to the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) to help it distribute support kits to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.

Albion Park Rail Bakers Delight store franchisee Tracy Bartolotta said the store is happy to participate.

“The thing is a lot of customers mention that they know someone or had a scare themselves with breast cancer, so it’s a big thing,” she said.

“This year we are aiming for $1000 during our campaign.”

The store has participated in the fundraiser every year since it opened in 2002, and has raising around $4500 for the cause.

BCNA CEO and breast cancer survivor Lyn Swinburne said the campaign was a great way for communities across Australia to pay tribute to women affected by breast cancer and their families.

“So far BCNA has distributed over 25,000 My Journey Kits.”

Customers are also invited to leave a message in support or in memory of a loved one with breast cancer by sponsoring a pink lady silhouette at their local store. The silhouettes are then displayed around the store.

Currently in its eighth year, the Pink Bun campaign has raised almost $2 million for the BCNA.

The Baker’s Delight Pink Bun Campaign ends on May 14.
