THE Lake Illawarra PCYC Boxing Club members were the happy recipients of a $1000 cheque presented by Oak Flats Bowling Club CEO Matt OHara on behalf of the Bowling Club last Friday.

PCYC Boxing Coach Les Underwood extended a big thankyou to the Club for their generous donation.

We are not government funded so we rely on this kind of support, said Mr Underwood.

We are very appreciative of the club and the boards generosity.

Meanwhile Matt OHara reaffirmed the Oak Flats Bowling Club Boards commitment to kids and local sport.

Kids need activity, we love helping out and it helps keep kids off the street, said Mr OHara.

With plans to put the money towards the purchase of new competitive headgear, sparring gloves, skipping ropes and an exercise bike, Les is confident the donation will help the club attract more new kids to its ranks.

New participants are invited to come along and give boxing a go, though those interested are reminded that boxing in NSW is open to those 14 years and older said Les.
