Southlake Sharks BMX riders produced some outstanding results at the recent event which attracted riders from as far away as the ACT. The Sprocket Rocket riders are aged up to 8 years and all had great day of racing.

180 BMX riders from all across NSW and as far away as the ACT, converged on the Southlake Sharks BMX club earlier this month.

The increased interest in the sport comes as no surprise to organisers as BMX is now confirmed as a sport at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The Southlake Club has a membership base of 100 riders ranging in age from five to 55.

The club has a proud history and a recent highlight has been the emergence of Australian representatives. Jake Thaler (11-12 years Cruisers) and Frank Penrose (AA Pro Class) competing in New Zealand last October.

The event was an opportunity to observe first hand the competition that the club will face in May at the Australian Titles held in South Australia.

For the mountain bike enthusiasts out there, dont be alarmed as the club also extends an invitation to join the club and use their great facilities.
